Abstract. The purpose of the study is a theoretical analysis of the socio-historical genesis of physical culture, sports and Olympism precisely as political phenomena. A theoretical analysis proving that from the moment of their inception and practically throughout their centuries-long evolution they had primarily (or at least not to the last degree) a political nature. This circumstance should be considered as a weighty argument that reduces the scientific problem of their politicization to absurdity, due to its logical and substantive tautology.
In order to construct a proof that is correct, from the point of view of formal logic, in which we are talking, we will take as the working hypothesis of the study the opposite, traditionally defended in the specialized literature, moreover, practically unquestioned by the vast majority of authors, the thesis that in the process of its social -historical genesis, physical culture, sports and Olympism developed not as political, but as sociocultural phenomena, only as an exception periodically experiencing periods of politicization.
Conclusions: the entire process of the historical genesis of the physical culture of sports and Olympism, as our brief philosophical and historical excursion shows, had periods of a dim character, and periods of a pronounced character; all the above facts, and most of all their targeted interpretation, completely refute the hypothesis that in the process of their socio-historical genesis, physical culture, sports and Olympism developed not as political, but as socio-cultural phenomena, which only as an exception periodically experienced periods of politicization; As a result of this refutation, any attempts to consider the issue of politicization of the supposedly politically neutral physical culture, sports and Olympism should be considered an absurd pseudoscientific problem.
Keywords: physical culture; sport; Olympism; socio-historical genesis; political phenomenon; politicization; tautology; indirect evidence «from the opposite» or by «reduction to absurdity»
