Abstract. The author of the article raises the question that the process of socialization of a child does not always occur through his own experience and therefore he receives some knowledge thanks to fictional constructed situations that are reflected in folklore, fairy tales, books and, most importantly, in animation. There are several main processes that allow the child to assimilate the information transmitted in this way: direct informing, thanks to which the child receives basic ideas about the world and morality, identification with characters, further imitation of their behavior, and comparison of plot events with real life situations. Thus, animation plays the role of an additional means of socialization. In this article, for the most complete characterization of the role of animation in the socialization of a child, its history is briefly outlined and the transformation of both the transmitted values and the ways of their visualization is traced. The purpose of this article is to identify, on the basis of secondary results of a sociological survey and research companies, how much animation in childhood affects the formation of a child’s personality and his socialization in general. The subject of the study is the animation itself. Content analysis was used as a method of collecting information, as a result of which this article will show the data of sociological surveys and research companies. The result of the work is a sociological survey, which allows us to conclude that animation in childhood plays a huge role in shaping the personality of the child and on his socialization in general. The work may be useful for beginners in the field of sociology of childhood, for sociological research in the field of studying the formation of a child’s personality, for producers and creators of cartoons.
