Abstract. This article explores the interesting and complex phenomenon of nationalism in the Arab world, seeking to uncover the structures of identity and unity that have shaped the region’s historical and contemporary landscape. While studying the historical development of Arab nationalism, the article should focus on the impact of colonization, anti-colonial struggle and the emergence of modern nation-states on the formation of Arab identity. The paper then explores various factors that have shaped Arab nationalism, including shared language, culture, religion, and the Arab-Israeli conflict. The article highlights various forms of Arab nationalism, such as pan-Arabism and nationalist movements within individual Arab countries, as well as the influence of sectarian and ethnic aspects. It also explores the issues and criticisms facing Arab nationalism, including internal divisions, regional conflicts, and the impact of globalization. Considering contemporary manifestations of Arab nationalism, the article examines the role of nationalist movements during the Arab Spring and their impact on the political landscape of the region. It also discusses the role of social media and technology in shaping nationalist narratives and examines the prospects for future Arab unity and cooperation. In conclusion, the articles emphasize the importance of understanding and studying Arab nationalism in a globalized world. By understanding the structures of Arab identity and the complexities of nationalism, politicians, scholars and observers can gain insight into the dynamics that shape the socio-political landscape of the Arab world, contributing to a deeper understanding of regional dynamics and the potential for future cooperation and unity.
