Abstract. The article examines the situation with emigration in Russia. Every year, thousands of representatives of the highly educated part of the population leave the Russian Federation, which leads to a reduction in the scientific elite and hinders the development of the state. Emigration is one of the most important population problems. It is considered not only as a simple mechanical movement of people, but as a complex social process affecting many aspects of socio-economic life. The reason for this problem is the desire of emigrants for well-being, social stability and security, which are interrelated. Local or regional military conflicts, as well as low living standards, epidemics, man-made disasters, etc. can serve as reasons for changing the place of residence in the country. In this article, the task is to consider the influence of the Internet on the formation of emigration attitudes. The Internet is now an integral part of people’s lives, mostly young people. Young people receive a huge amount of information on the Internet every day. Among it there is information about emigration: photos, statements of other people about different countries, etc. In this article, we analyzed emigration, the impact of the Internet on it, as well as the consequences of youth emigration. Secondary studies conducted on the topic of emigration are used for the analysis. The article also discusses the reasons for the emigration of young people, the consequences after this emigration that Russia experienced, the problem of «brain drain» from Russia. The motives that determine the desire to emigrate, their relative importance for respondents and the special motives of young people are revealed. Students’ ideas about possible channels of emigration, its desired directions and the prevalence of real practices aimed at emigration are highlighted.
