Abstract. The object of this study is contemporary Russian-American political discourse; the subject is the linguocognitive mechanisms of constructing political style and image in the context of global geopolitical transformation. The research hypothesis posits that, in a situation of crisis in traditional models of international relations, a fundamental shift is occurring in the linguocognitive paradigms shaping political style and image: from binary opposition and confrontational rhetoric to more complex and contradictory forms of discursive self-representation. The methodological framework of the study comprises a synthesis of methods from critical discourse analysis, conceptual analysis of political metaphor, and linguopragmatic analysis. The empirical basis consists of public speeches and official statements by the presidents of Russia and the United States from 2022 to 2025, as well as materials from leading media outlets in both countries. The study reveals that the dominant linguocognitive strategy for constructing political style and image in Russian-American discourse is the «us versus them» dichotomy, realized through the axiological opposition of democratic values and anti-values. It was found that Russian political discourse is predominantly characterized by strategies of institutional protection and historical continuity, whereas American political discourse is characterized by strategies of moral superiority and the universalization of democratic values. Transformational processes are expressed in the emergence of hybrid discursive forms that combine elements of both confrontational and cooperative rhetoric.
