Abstract. This article examines the features of social etiquette in Central Asia, including traditional and modern aspects. Etiquette in this region is a unique combination of ancient cultural norms and modern social standards. The study covers the basic principles of behavior in public and private spheres of life, features of greetings, customs of hospitality, as well as behavior at official events. Differences and similarities in etiquette norms among Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the influence of historical and cultural factors on the formation of modern etiquette norms.
The study «Secular Etiquette in Central Asia» was conducted using a mixed methodological approach to analyze traditional and modern etiquette practices in the region. Qualitative methods, such as in-depth interviews with representatives of various sociocultural groups, and quantitative methods, including questionnaires, were used to collect data. The results of the study showed that social etiquette in Central Asia is highly stable and continues to play a significant role in everyday life and interpersonal relationships. Traditional values of hospitality, respect for elders and observance of ritual norms are combined with elements of modern etiquette, adapted under the influence of globalization and technological changes.
The significance of the research results lies in their ability to explain the dynamics of changes in etiquette norms and their sociocultural consequences in the modern world. Understanding etiquette practices contributes to the preservation of cultural identity and can improve intercultural understanding, which is a key aspect of maintaining social harmony and the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
