Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of liberal ideological and propaganda models in their historical development. As the foundations of the ideological and propaganda models of the Western world, the ideological principles of ancient civilization were analyzed, namely, the reforms of Solon, the views on society of such thinkers as Heraclitus and Cicero. The next stage in the formation of ideological and propaganda models of the Western world, the article highlights the formation of the ideology of the Catholic Church, where it became the norm to evaluate a lay person according to his material capabilities, from which followed the tradition of releasing a person’s sins for money. The article emphasizes that the era of the Church Reformation and the birth of Protestantism played a significant role in the formation of the values of the Western world. An important point of the article is the analysis of the ideological foundations of the era of geographical discoveries, when, against the backdrop of the dominance of the ideology of Catholicism and Protestantism, the world and the peoples inhabiting it began to be viewed not only as a means of enrichment, but also as a legitimate object of robbery. All these stages of the formation of the ideological foundations of the life of Western society are considered in the article as a kind of background for the emergence of the ideology of liberalism in the era of the birth and establishment of capitalist relations. The article analyzes the basic values of the Western world, such as freedom, individualism, economic liberalism, democracy, the rule of law. At the same time, these values are presented in the article as national, inherent in Western civilization and born within it. The article also raises the question of the organic nature of the introduction of Western values and their corresponding ideological and propaganda models into the fabric of other civilizations, where their values have matured for centuries.
