Abstract. The article «Transformation of the Law on Foreign Agents and Its Consequences» is a brief but sufficient question for understanding and debate. The relevance of the issue in the work is determined by the constant expansion of the list of foreign agents in Russia and their influence on the media agenda. The author summarizes the current state of the chosen object of study, clarifies the categories of the conceptual apparatus, describes both new and already established views on the subject under study. The article provides the reasons for the adoption of the law on foreign agents, in addition, the study examines the initial version of the law, its transformation (expansion) and justification for amendments. In the light of recent changes in the legislation regarding the status of foreign agents, it is necessary to conduct a detailed analysis of its changes and assess the possible consequences. The paper also examines international experience regarding the control of foreign influence on various organizations and the political situation in the state. An expert assessment of the legal side of the law is given. A quantitative analysis of the data of inclusion by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agents was carried out. The change in the application of the law over time is analyzed and an assessment of its effectiveness is given. Thus, in conclusion, it is noted that the transformation of the law on foreign agents and its consequences cause considerable discussion and may contribute to the creation of a more effective mechanism for combating foreign influence. However, careful monitoring of its application and respect for the rights and freedoms of all parties is required in order to avoid possible negative consequences and maintain the healthy functioning of civil society.
